  1. Thank you for writing this. I hope that knowing that your words are an urgent reminder, to me at least, helps you to understand that in some small way the light that you are reflecting IS making a difference in the world. More light=LESS darkness=Good winning! *smile*. Even nearly a year after you wrote this.

  2. I have that same problem waking up at night, but I don’t have dogs. What a good thought to fortify our hearts before a problem instead of just in the midst.

    1. Waking up at night can cause so many problems! I know for me it just wears me down spiritually as well as physically! I pray you get some peaceful rest!

  3. Will you get out of my head! 🙂 Thank you for this reminder as I continue to go through a tough time. Love you and your writing. <3

  4. Diane,
When I am sleep deprived, I am like a sitting duck for the enemy. One way I guard my heart is to guard my physical body. I go to bed early, eat healthy, get exercise. I also make sure I’m in the Word because when a negative thought comes along, I want to be able to hold it up to God’s Truth. If it doesn’t match up, then I need to throw it out. Guarding our hearts, minds, and bodies takes vigilance. And, yes, why do our pups like to lick their paws and parts in the middle of the night?? Really God? LOL.
    Blessings,
    Bev xx

    1. LOL Yes! When I don’t spend enough time in the Word those negative thoughts certainly do take root!! I find myself as worn down spiritually as I do physically!! Thank you for sharing!!!

  5. I’m a very light sleeper too. I think it started when I had babies I was listening for, and it just never went away. lol. It is so important to guard our peace. I’m having to set up some guardrails for this season because it can be so overwhelming to me otherwise. I want to keep my peace!

    1. Yes I call it my mommy ear. Thats when it started for me. Listening for babies for so many years definitely makes you sleep much lighter!

  6. My mind is the battleground. It has taken years to get that wild place under better control and it came through prayer and scripture. Your tips to guard your heart and mind are right on and I always appreciate more tools to help there!

  7. What a great post, Diane. This is so important. God doesn’t want us to be ignorant about how the enemy works. I often think about Luke 4.13 at the end of Jesus’ temptation in the wilderness. It says, “Now when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time.” If he did so to Jesus, we shouldn’t think he won’t come back to tempt us when we are weak and vulnerable. Thanks for hosting and Thanksgiving blessings!

  8. You might want to check the adds that are allowed on this post. I’ve seen one for a movie that was inappropriate. As for your post I’ve really enjoyed it. Thank you for your encouragement.
