A Free Interactive Bible Study Tool for Going Deeper

The Exegetical Edit™ is a free interactive Bible study tool built for readers who want more than a surface reading. It combines Hebrew and Greek word studies, typology, topical study, and guided passage work, all rooted in the first-century Jewish context of Scripture. There is no sign-up and no cost. Choose a mode above, enter a word, passage, or topic, and study.

This isn’t a devotional generator or a verse-of-the-day widget. It’s a study companion designed around the way Scripture was actually written and first heard: Hebrew roots, Second Temple usage, and the threads that run from the Tanakh into the Brit Hadashah.

What’s Inside: Five Study Modes

Hebrew Word Study

Trace a Hebrew word through the Tanakh (Old Testament): its root, its range of meaning, how it was used in the Second Temple period, and where it echoes in the Brit Hadashah. Words like chesed, shalom, and ruach mean far more than their English translations show, and this mode helps you see what’s underneath them.

Greek Word Study

Do the same work in the Brit Hadashah (New Testament). Look at a Greek word’s root and range of meaning, how it was used in the Septuagint and the first-century world, and which Hebrew ideas stand behind it. The New Testament writers were still thinking in Hebrew even when they wrote in Greek, and this mode helps you see both layers.

Topical Study

Enter a topic like covenant, prayer, or the fear of the Lord and map it across Scripture. Instead of a list of proof texts, you’ll see where the theme starts, how it develops, and how it connects across both testaments.

Typology

Explore the patterns, shadows, and foreshadowing that runs through the Tanakh, the places where people, events, and institutions point forward to their fulfillment. Typology is one of the most overlooked parts of Bible study, and one of the most rewarding.

The BREATHE Method™

Study a passage using the BREATHE Bible Study Method, an original step-by-step method developed by Diane Ferreira of She Opens Her Bible and She’s So Scripture that walks you through a text, from observation through context to application, so you’re studying the passage, not just reading about it.

What a Word Study Looks Like

Take chesed, often translated “lovingkindness” or “steadfast love.” Enter it in Hebrew mode and the tool traces the root, shows its range of meaning (covenant loyalty, mercy, faithful love that acts), and walks through how it’s used across the Tanakh, from the way God describes Himself in Exodus 34 to the line repeated in every verse of Psalm 136: His chesed endures forever. It then follows the idea into the Brit Hadashah, where it shows up behind Greek words like eleos and charis. One English word turns into a thread you can follow through all of Scripture.

How to Use It

Pick a mode, enter your word, passage, or topic, and select “Let’s Study!” The tool may take a moment to load and to compile results. It’s doing real research, not pulling up a canned answer. Not sure where to start? Try one of the suggested words under the search bar, or bring a word from whatever passage you’re reading right now.
