To pray for the persecuted church is to recognize the unseen battles so many believers face each day. In villages, cities, and hidden rooms across the world, Christians gather in courage where worship is risky. This space offers a gentle invitation to stand with them… not in fear, but in prayer, hope, and unwavering love.
Around the world today, thousands of believers gather to worship knowing it may cost them their homes, their safety, or their lives.
Many of them are in:
- Nigeria
- Pakistan
- Eritrea
- India
- Iran
- China
- North Korea
- Afghanistan
- Sudan
- The Central African region
- And dozens of other places where following Jesus is dangerous.
This page is a place to honor them, remember them, and intercede for them.
Why We Pray
The early church was born into persecution. And Scripture calls us to remember those who suffer:
“Remember the prisoners as if you were fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you also were suffering bodily.”
Hebrews 13:3 TLV
When we pray for persecuted believers, we participate in the spiritual strengthening of the global Body of Christ.
How to Pray for the Persecuted Church Today
Here are specific ways to pray:
- Pray for courage to stand firm in the face of threats.
- Pray for protection over churches, pastors, families, and children.
- Pray for provision for those displaced or suffering loss.
- Pray for comfort for those grieving loved ones.
- Pray for revival in the darkest places.
- Pray for salvation for persecutors, extremists, and enemies of the gospel.
- Pray for global unity in the church; that those suffering never feel forgotten.
A Prayer You Can Pray Now
Lord, strengthen every believer who worships in danger today.
Cover them with Your protection, fill them with Your courage,
and remind them they are deeply loved by You and Your people throughout the world.
Let Your light shine in the darkest places. In Jesus’ Name.
Amen.
