On our journey toward finding a godly husband, it’s essential to remember that waiting on God’s timing is not just about patience, but about trusting His perfect plan for our lives. In Ecclesiastes 3:11 it says, “He has made everything beautiful in its time.” This verse should remind us that God’s timing is impeccable; He knows the desires of our hearts and has a plan that is for our ultimate good.
But let’s face it, waiting on God’s timing can be challenging, especially when the world around us seems to rush headlong into relationships. However, as believers, we know that God’s plans are far greater than our own.
Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages us:
This means acknowledging that God sees the bigger picture and trusting Him to bring the right person into our lives at the right moment.
Why Finding a Godly Husband Matters
The importance of finding a husband who is godly cannot be overstated. A godly husband is someone who loves the Lord, strives to live according to His word, and seeks to grow in his faith. This is the kind of man who will lead his family with integrity, love, and wisdom, prioritizing spiritual growth and servant leadership.
Ephesians 5:25 (TLV) says:
This kind of love is sacrificial and selfless, mirroring the love of Yeshua (Jesus) for the church.
A godly husband not only loves you but also loves God more, and this love becomes the foundation of the relationship.
A marriage grounded in faith creates a strong bond that can weather any storm, as both partners look to God for guidance and strength. The Book of Ruth is a beautiful example of this; Boaz, a man of God, acts with kindness, integrity, and faith, setting a standard for what a godly partner should be.
He took care of Ruth and Naomi prior to being Ruth’s husband, proving himself to be a man of character. A godly man will not wait until you are married to show you the love and respect (and his love of God) you deserve.
The Dangers of Being Unequally Yoked
Being unequally yoked in a relationship, especially in marriage, can lead to significant challenges and spiritual disharmony. The term “unequally yoked” comes from 2 Corinthians 6:14, which warns,
This scripture highlights the spiritual and practical difficulties that can arise when partners are not aligned in their faith.
An unequally yoked marriage can lead to conflicts about values, priorities, and raising children, as the couple may have fundamentally different worldviews. It can also lead to spiritual isolation, where one partner feels unsupported in their faith journey. This discord can create deep emotional and spiritual pain, as each person struggles to reconcile their beliefs and way of living.
Do not ever feel you can change someone AFTER you are married. Marriage isn’t a remodeling project; don’t go into it thinking you’ll change the foundation. What you accept before you say ‘I do’ is what you should be willing to embrace forever.

Embracing Contentment and Self-Worth
While the desire for finding a godly husband is a natural and worthy aspiration, it’s crucial to remember that your worth and identity are not defined by your relationship status. God has created you with a unique purpose, and your value is found in being His beloved daughter, not in being someone’s wife.
Philippians 4:11-13 offers a powerful reminder of contentment:
Contentment doesn’t mean giving up on the desire for a godly marriage but rather trusting that God’s timing is perfect and that He knows what is best for you. It’s about finding joy and fulfillment in your current season, knowing that God is at work in your life right now. As you pursue a deeper relationship with Him, you will discover a peace and satisfaction that transcends any earthly relationship.
A Personal Prayer for Wisdom and Discernment
Praying and asking for God’s wisdom and guidance is key to any decisions you make in life, and this is no different. So here is a prayer I will share with you that you can use in praying for a godly husband.
Heavenly Father, I come before You with a grateful heart, trusting in Your perfect plan for my life. I know that You desire only the best for me, including the partner I will spend my life with. Lord, give me the wisdom and discernment to see through the lens of Your truth, to recognize a godly man by his fruits, and to understand the importance of being equally yoked in faith.
Help me, Father, to be patient and to trust in Your timing. I ask that You prepare my heart and the heart of my future spouse to love You above all else. Protect me from relationships that are not in Your will, and guide me toward the one You have chosen for me.
Lord, I pray for strength and courage to wait for the right person and to honor You in my singleness. May I seek first Your kingdom and righteousness, knowing that all these things will be added unto me. I surrender my desires and plans to You, believing that You are faithful and that Your plans are for my good.
In Yeshua’s name, I pray. Amen.
My Final Thoughts: Embracing God’s Plan
Finding a godly husband involves more than just waiting; it’s about actively trusting in God’s plan and timing. It’s about seeking a partner who will join you in your faith journey, building a life that honors God.
Remember that God knows the desires of your heart, and He will fulfill them in His perfect timing. Stay strong in your faith, be patient, and trust that God is working all things together for your good. As we seek to honor Him in our relationships, He will provide and guide us in ways we cannot imagine.
