  1. I absolutely love this! As an avid sports fan, myself, this is a great illustration. I’m a fan of Jesus, but I’m a raving follower, too! Great post, as always!!!!

  2. I love visiting here, Diane. You do such a good job of setting up a discussion and then examining the issue from all angles. Blessings to you as you continue to share words with the world!

  3. Wow, Diane! What a powerful message. Putting our relationship with God into terms most of us can understand (fan/follower) made me think. I want to be a follower, not just a fan!

  4. Love this perspective of fan or follower! I pray that in my following Him that there will be fans that will see how much better it is when you follow Him!

  5. Thanks for this great post Diane! I love your use of Scripture here. Tweeted and pinned. Thanks for hosting the link-up and for linking up at InstaEncouragements!

  6. This reminds me of Kyle Idleman’s book “Not a Fan.” I’ve been meaning to read it and now might be a great time with your reminder!

  7. So true! This reminds me of a Bible study I just went through on 1 Corinthians 9:24-27, where we compared professional and hobby athletes. It was eye-opening for sure!

  8. Our Auburn University quarterback Jarret Stidham just got drafted by the New England Patriots. I don’t suppose he’ll be playing the position for awhile though. 🙂 I definitely want to be a full-on follower of Jesus! Thanks for the encouragement, Diane.

    1. Ah War Eagle! My favorite college team!! Hopefully he’ll get to play!! Thanks so much Lisa!

  9. Hi Diane!

What I love about Peter and the male disciples is that even though their actions demonstrated Jesus fanship, their example shows us it is never too late to become a follower, and Jesus will still accept those who convert from fans to followers.

I also love that the true followers of Jesus who stuck through to the Resurrection were women 🙂

Thanks for hosting the linkup, and I can’t wait to read some of the other blogs linked up!

    1. Hi Carrie!! That’s so true! It’s yet another demonstration of how no matter what happens in your life it’s never too late to follow Jesus. Thank you for visiting and for linking up!
